Used Cars Under $15,000 for Sale in Hobart, IN

Hobart Auto Sales keeps a deep, constantly changing selection of quality used cars and SUVs under $15,000 at our lot on W 37th Avenue in Hobart, Indiana — minutes from I-65, US-30, and the Borman, and an easy drive from anywhere in Lake and Porter County. With 300+ vehicles on the ground and new trades arriving every week, the under-$15k aisle here isn't an afterthought. For a lot of Northwest Indiana shoppers, it's the whole reason they drive out.

A budget of $15,000 goes further than most people expect right now, especially on a well-kept sedan or compact SUV with the miles honestly disclosed. What matters is buying from a lot with enough volume to give you real choices, and a team that will tell you straight what a vehicle has been through. That's what we're set up to do.

What $15,000 Buys in Northwest Indiana

Our under-$15k inventory turns over quickly, so the exact cars change week to week. Here's what that price band consistently looks like on our lot.

Compact and Midsize Sedans

The strongest value in the segment. Cars like the Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Elantra, Volkswagen Jetta, Nissan Altima, and Chevrolet Impala regularly land here — good fuel economy for a Borman or Cline Avenue commute, cheap consumables, and parts availability everywhere in the region.

Compact SUVs and Crossovers

The most-requested body style in Northwest Indiana, and yes, they fit under $15,000. Ford Escape, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, Chevrolet Trax, Buick Encore, and similar crossovers show up regularly, many with all-wheel drive — which matters more here in January than it does in a brochure.

Higher-Mileage, Well-Maintained Vehicles

Mileage isn't the whole story. A 120,000-mile vehicle with consistent service beats an 80,000-mile one that got ignored, and the higher-mileage side of this price band is often where the best value sits. We'll show you what we know about the vehicle either way.

Three-Row and Larger Options

Bigger families shopping this budget aren't out of luck. Older three-row SUVs and minivans come through regularly — browse our SUV inventory and van inventory to see what's on the ground today.

Why Shop Under $15k at Hobart Auto Sales

Volume you can actually shop. With 300+ vehicles across the lot, the affordable end isn't three leftovers parked in the back. Vehicles under $15k is its own filter on our site for a reason.

Prices posted online. Every vehicle is listed with its price and mileage before you drive out. No mystery numbers.

All credit welcome. We work with a wide range of credit situations and multiple lenders — see our financing options.

Trade-ins on anything. Roll your current vehicle into the deal, or sell it to us outright.

A no-hassle way to get here. Live within 50 miles? Ask about our free Uber or Lyft pickup — your first ride to the dealership is on us.

Financing a Used Car Under $15,000

A smaller loan amount means a smaller monthly payment and less interest paid over the life of the loan, which is exactly why this price band is so popular. Here's how to get your numbers before you shop:

Get pre-qualified — no SSN required, so you can see where you stand without a hard pull.

Capital One pre-approval — check real terms on our actual inventory.

Apply online — the full credit application, done from your couch in a few minutes.

Payment calculator — work backward from the monthly payment you're comfortable with.

Credit score ranges — what your score generally means for an auto loan.

Knowing your approval amount before you shop turns a long afternoon into a short one. It also keeps you from falling for a vehicle that was never going to fit the budget.

What to Check on Any Used Car Under $15,000

Rust, first. Northwest Indiana road salt is brutal. Look at rocker panels, wheel wells, brake and fuel lines, and the underside — not just the paint.

Service history over odometer reading. Records of regular oil changes and maintenance tell you more than the number on the dash.

Tires and brakes. Four tires and a brake job are real money on a budget car. Know where they stand before you sign.

The full drive. Get it up to speed on US-30 or I-65, not just around the block. Highway manners are where problems announce themselves.

Cold-weather items. Heat, defrost, wipers, battery, and AWD engagement if equipped. Test them in September, not December.

Ask us to put anything you're serious about on a lift. We'd rather you buy with your eyes open.

Trading In or Selling Your Current Vehicle

Your trade is often the fastest way to close the gap on an under-$15k purchase. Start with our online trade-in value tool for a real number, or bring it by. Not buying from us? We'll still buy your car outright — no purchase required.

Looking to Spend a Little More?

Stretching the budget opens up newer model years, lower mileage, and more three-row and truck options. Browse used cars under $25,000, or see our full inventory of 300+ vehicles.

Serving Hobart and All of Northwest Indiana

We're a short drive from just about everywhere in the Region, and we regularly work with budget-conscious shoppers from Merrillville, Gary, Lake Station, Portage, Valparaiso, Crown Point, Griffith, Highland, Hammond, Munster, Schererville, East Chicago, Chesterton, Michigan City, and the south suburbs of Chicago including Lansing, Calumet City, and South Holland.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many cars do you have under $15,000?

It changes daily as vehicles sell and new trades arrive. The under $15k filter on our inventory page always shows exactly what's available right now.

Can I finance a car under $15,000?

Yes. We work with multiple lenders across a wide range of credit situations. Get pre-qualified without an SSN to see where you stand, or apply online for a full decision.

Will a cheaper car mean high mileage?

Often, but not always. This price band includes both low-mileage older vehicles and higher-mileage newer ones. Both can be good buys — condition and maintenance history matter more than the odometer alone.

Do you take trade-ins on lower-priced vehicles?

Absolutely. Get a value with our trade-in tool, and we'll apply it toward whatever you're buying.

Can I see the car before I commit?

Schedule an appointment or a test drive and we'll have it pulled up front and ready when you get here. We're closed Sundays.

Shop Used Cars Under $15,000 in Hobart Today

Browse what's under $15k right now, then come drive it.
